Monday’s post got me thinking about how excited I am about 2015 at the movies. Because I am really, really excited about this year. Like … can Fandango just set it up so I can buy my tickets already? (This is like the Beauty and the Beast thing all over again …)
On March 13, strap on your glass slippers! It’s Cinderella time!! I hope I should be excited about this. I’ve remained completely spoiler-free on this one. I haven’t even seen a trailer. The single thing I know: Lady Rose (from my beloved Downton Abbey) plays the pretty orphan. And I only know that because it’s impossible not to see the giant posters. Also: Frozen Fever precedes the film, which is wildly exciting. (Not sarcasm.) [Check out my review of the film!]
On April 24, The Age of Adaline hits theatres. And while this isn’t a Disney release, it is a time-bending fantasy tale, and I live for that kind of thing. It stars Blake Lively, who I find so enthralling, and Harrison Ford, who isn’t what he used to be but I always put my butt in the seat hoping he will be. It’ll be interesting at the very least. (And if the trailers look terrible, this will be the first thing to drop off my list.)
On May 1, we get Age of Ultron, which just looks so out-of-this-world amazing. I love, love, love Joss Whedon and pretty much everything he does, and it’s The Avengers, so you know we’ll be getting our 3D tickets well in advance of this one.
On May 22, we’ll finally, finally have Tomorrowland. I am totes spoiler-free for this one, too. Well. Mostly. I know George Clooney (love) and Brit Robertson (love love!) are in it. And that scenes were shot at Carousel of Progress. Also, I know Damon Lindelof is producing. So. I am pretty excited. I’m planning to IMAX it. For sure. [Check out my review of the film!]
On June 12, I am going to put on my diaper and watch Jurassic World without covering my eyes. (I am not really going to wear a diaper, and I’ll probably cover my eyes.) The point is: I am so excited for this. Like, sometimes I remember that this is happening soon, and I get a tiny endorphin rush. Can’t wait. Even if it’s not Disney.
Edited to add: On June 19, Pixar’s Inside Out happens. How did I forget it? [Check out my review of the film!]
On July 17, Paul Rudd is Ant-Man!! So psyched for this one. Rudd is one of my all-time favorite funny-men, and I’ve been waiting so long to see this finally come together on the big screen. I’m really looking forward to seeing what they’ll do with macrophotography to make everything seem tiny. And how they’ll make small tie-ins to the Avengers. It’s going to be epic.
On July 24, set your pixie to dust! Warner Brothers is releasing Pan, an origin story of Peter and Captain James Hook. My la-la-la-love of all-things Peter mythology is well documented, so I’ll be seeing this one.
On November 26, we’ll get a new Disney dino when The Good Dinosaur comes out. I’ve been following the slow unraveling (and re-raveling) of this thing for so long. I can’t believe I’m actually going to finally see it! [Check out my review here!]
While I was putting together this list, I noticed something totally weird: Judy Greer is pretty much in every single one of the films on this list. She’s in Tomorrowland, Jurassic World, Ant-Man and The Good Dinosaur. What now?! She is the most working-est actress in Hollywood. And she doesn’t get her propers, but she clearly should.
What films are you looking forward to this year? Let me know in the comments!
