Like a grand and miraculous spaceship, our planet has sailed through the universe of time; and for a brief moment we have been among its passengers. But where are we going? And what kind of future will we discover there? I know one thing: Wherever we discover, I’m going to thank the Phoenicians, just like Dame Judy told me to.
Remember how easy it was to learn your ABC’s? Thank the Phoenicians, they invented them.
In fact, as a writer, I thank the Phoenicians daily. Especially when I’m trolling twitter and a gem like this comes up:
— Phoenicians (@The_Phoenicians) February 9, 2016
— Phoenicians (@The_Phoenicians) July 11, 2015
It’s silly. There’s barely any content, really. But every time The Phoenicians come up in my feed, it’s a delightful little reminder of my happy place, of riding slowly backward through the blue twinkle lights, of the smell of Rome burning and of the scratchy sound of one small step for man … one giant step for mankind.
