Weekly Round Up: July 17

Spaceship Earth (Mouse on the Mind)Hi y’all. Melissa here! Tracy’s in Bermuda, and while she’s gone, I’m holding down the Mouse on the Mind fort and putting tiny umbrellas in my margaritas in solidarity. (It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it!)

Brain Food Alert: The ever-brilliant Rebecca Hains (that’s Professor Hains to the lucky students at Salem State University) has a great breakdown of Brave, responding to several of the criticisms the film has come against and leveling some of her own. Her words changed the way I’ve been thinking about Merida.

I also have to give a big shout out to my Disney blogging bestie:  Estelle is running an amazing series  on This Happy Place Blog this summer called EndEARing and Underrated, featuring a ton of Disney bloggers and podcasters on their favorite underrated Disney classic. Check it out. (And keep your eyes peeled for my submission, which will be coming to a Happy Place Blog near you very soon.)

What’s your favorite underrated Disney film?

Tracy wrote more about San Fran’s green spaces as well as a lovely essay on cafe culture. As she headed out on her next vacation (a cruise to Bermuda!), she reflected on how her travel style has changed.
