While Captain Cook’s is closed for refurb at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, guests are invited to dine in a temporary quick service spot that also happens to be a Cast Member cafeteria. I’ve decided to take you on a photographic tour, since you may not get to see the campy retro goodness before it’s gone.
Stepping through the door feels like you’ve been transported into a forgotten era of the Polynesian (Village) Resort:
I was agog. All that amazing avocado green and earthy yellow. So 70s, so gloriously campy. Let’s take a closer look:
The food service area is much like any other resort, with many of the same items that are typically on the menu:
In the far corner is an area suited more for families – you’ll find two TVs and larger tables in this area:
As you head out, be sure to notice there are a couple more pieces of art and a little flourish to set off an otherwise-boring half wall.
Make sure you head over this way if you get the chance. You won’t get a Dole Whip, but you’ll catch a glimpse of some campy retro Polynesian goodness.
Final thought: Isn’t it strange that a food service location adjoining a huge also-closed-for-refurb space is closed for refurb while Trader Sam’s rumors swirl?
