I keep a toiletry bag packed and ready to go at all times. It just makes sense, really–especially when you were in a long distance relationship for over a year. But my bag isn’t that big. Or, that long, I guess. Because my straightening iron doesn’t fit in it, and I don’t always think to throw it in my bag. It’s vacation, after all! Until I actually get down to Orlando and my hair won’t cooperate, and I am kicking myself for forgetting to pack it.
Recently, I was sitting on the edge of a bed at Saratoga Springs Resort, pondering this exact situation, when Owner’s Locker popped into my head. Wouldn’t that just solve all of my problems? Well. It would solve my forgetting-the-straightener problem, at least. And that got me thinking … What would I keep in my Owner’s Locker?
[For those of you who don’t know, Owner’s Locker is a service that provides customers with a container to store personal items that they regularly use in Orlando. The company picks the container up from your resort when you check out and stores it until you return–then drops it off for you next time.]
Obviously, the straightener, to start. And my toiletries, of course. Full sized toiletries. And a big ‘ole bottle of Downy Wrinkle Release because there’s nothing I hate more than getting to Disney World and realizing that my culottes look like a topographical map. And! A humidifier! A small one. I actually have a teeny-tiny box humidifier that would be perfect.
What else … a bag of laundry pods and some dryer sheets, of course. And a laundry bag. And a small fan. And a small tray to act as a “catch all” for our keys and rings and whatever else. (Long time readers will remember the time I thought I lost my wedding ring at the Boardwalk Villas … a tray like this would have prevented that, for sure!)
Some comfy capris, a couple of tee shirts. And a bathing suit! And a pair of nicely broken-in sneakers. And all of our extra Magic Bands! And Dan’s slippers. Extra chapsticks. A Brita pitcher. And a pair of scissors–do you have any idea how often I have to go to the front desk to ask for scissors?! And my delicate Mouse ears … the ones I bought, wore once and then never brought back down because I am afraid I’ll ruin them in transit.
That got me thinking … Can I have Owner’s Locker deliver before a Disney Cruise adventure? Sadly, OL doesn’t deliver to Port Canaveral or any of its nearby hotels. But if you fly into Orlando and spend a night in the area before the cruise, you can most likely have it delivered there. (The list of participating hotels is long!) Or the Owner’s Locker crew will meet you at Orlando International Airport to make the drop off. Which is pretty peachy keen, if you ask me.
So, yes … I could take my Locker on a cruise. Which means my pirate night costume will find a home in my Owner’s Locker. As well as water shoes. And my Castaway Club lanyard. And Dan’s snorkling gear. All sorts of things that I never use here and/or find it a pain to fly with.
The more I think about it, the more excited I get, actually. So maybe 2016 will be the year of the Owner’s Locker.
