IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Next month will be the FINAL edition of Kill Refurb Marry. I know–it stinks! But the feature has been declining in popularity for months, and with Estelle and This Happy Place Blog going on hiatus, it feels like time to bow out. But not before one final blow out: Next month, on November 11, we’ll be playing the final game of Kill Refurb Marry with MyMagic+.
You are probably familiar with the popular parlor game, Kill Boff Marry, where given the choice between three people, you must decide which you’d murder, sleep with and spend the rest of your life with. Well, this is the WDW-themed version called Kill Refurb Marry. Even better: There’s a Blog Hop connected to the game, so everyone can play along! This month, we’re sounding off on offerings at this year’s EPCOT Food & Wine Festival. Sadly, I will be completely missing the Festival, but I’ve still been keeping an eye on the sips and snacks, and I definitely have my opinions …

Kill: Potato and Leek Waffle, Belgium Booth
Two years ago, Dan and I were totally excited to try the waffles at the new Belgium booth. Who doesn’t love flavored waffles?! I wrote about it before our trip, totally down to try everything on offer in the booth.
But we were pretty disappointed by the offerings. The waffles were sort of dry and meh, and the toppings weren’t very inspiring. Sad trombone.
Fast forward to this year: As I scrolled through photos of the 2015 offerings, I saw several photos of Belgium’s potato waffle topped with braised beef and … yech! It even looks gross this year. Thumbs down.
Refurb: Loaded Mac and Cheese, Farm Fresh Booth
Mmmmm … mac and cheese. It’s one of my can’t-live-without-it meals. Homemade and crispy on top, it’s my favorite meal from my mom’s culinary repertoire. And bright orange mac and cheese from the box is totally my guilty pleasure comfort food. So I am always on the lookout for creamy, yummy, cheesy delicious offerings.
Well, hello there, gorgeous! The mac and cheese on this year’s Farm Fresh menu looks totally out of this world, and I love the addition of crispy smoked bacon bits … but all those scallions? Too much! Let’s refurb them right the heck off of my plate.
Marry: Crispy Pork Belly, Brazil Booth
In 2013, the pork belly coming out of this booth was absolutely to die. You’ll never convince me that this isn’t the most awesome item wandering around the World Showcase Lagoon this year. Yum!
Honorable Mention: Frozen Brown Elephant, Cool Post
Why isn’t this on the all-year menu, I ask you? The Brown Elephant may be my favorite alcoholic beverage ever. And I know it’s just cream liqueur, Coke and milk. And I know I could make it at home. But it’s not the same unless I am drinking it while I’m all hot and sweaty and listening to kids bang on the drums at the Outpost.
