Kill Refurb Marry: WDW Resort Hotels

Kill Refurb Marry Blog HopWelcome to our first-ever Kill Refurb Marry Blog Hop! I am so excited, and I hope lots of Disney bloggers will join in the fun. You can check out their links on this month’s Kill Refurb Marry homepage.

This month, we’re measuring WDW Resort Hotels–a big, sweeping list. It was kind of hard for me to decide, especially since I haven’t stayed at too too many resorts … and how could I recommend a death or refurbishment for a resort where I’ve never stayed.

I also immediately removed the Value Resorts from the running … and I had to remove the Moderate Resorts from the running to since I haven’t (at the time of writing this post) stayed in any of them, either! So … we’re left with Deluxe and DVC Resorts …

Kill: Wilderness Lodge, DVC Wing

Don’t hate me. I mean, whatever. Hate me. I love Wilderness Lodge as much as the next Disney fan, but that DVC wing? The rooms are too small. The beds are too small. The hallways are too long. It’s sort of the worst. I’m in favor of knocking it down. Rebuild the cool lounge on the first floor. Put some decent rooms on the second floor. Add a cool bar or lounge. Something.

Refurb: Boardwalk Inn and Villas

Ah, Boardwalk. I love you. I really do. It’s a great location with fabulous views and a really fun, inviting atmosphere. But I’d love to give the place a little facelift. The place is looking a little rough around the edges, and it deserves something more. In addition to updating the room and lounge interiors, I’d like to add some more and different entertainment options on the actual Boardwalk. The offerings have been less-than-impressive lately.

Marry: Old Key West Villas

Oh my heavens! How I love Old Key West. I sort of wish it were a really little village where I could live out the rest of my days in peaceful happiness. The rooms are large and lovely. The public spaces and restaurants are super kitschy, clean and welcoming. I love to walk the empty concrete streets. There’s a fire pit! And it’s just super relaxing and wonderful. Marry, marry, marry!
