Kill Refurb Marry: Thrill Rides

Kill Refurb Marry Blog HopWelcome to the third Kill Refurb Marry Blog Hop! I am so excited, and I hope lots of Disney bloggers will join in the fun. You can check out their links on this month’s Kill Refurb Marry homepage.

This month, we’re ranking Disney Parks Thrill Rides. Any rides that go SUPER FAST! Any rides that test your intestinal fortitude! Any rides that makes you put your hands up and scream!!!

Eeeeeeee!

One word of note: I am NOT taking Everest into consideration here. It’s too obvious. And it’s not even like the attraction needs to be refurbed, per say … it more just needs to be FIXED.

Kill: Space Mountain

It’s a classic, sure. But it’s also classically horrible. The ride is rough and jarring … even though it’s ridiculously slow moving. The toboggan-style seats are hard, cold, uncomfortable and tight.

I love retro sci fi and futurism. I love dark, interior coasters. And I love love love the idea of the PeopleMover running right through a dark coaster. But it’s just too uncomfortable, too hard on the back and … too long of a wait. Kill the coaster. Keep the building.

Refurb: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love this attraction. Before the video, I love the queue. After the video, I love the queue. The ride vehicles are inspired. And the coaster itself is super duper fun. Easily one of my favorites. Buuuuuuut … Aerosmith? Really? They haven’t had a top 40 single since 2001. And that was with the song Jaded. Aerosmith. I love them as much as the next person, but the probably should have just called it quits in 1995. Amirite?

I’m right.

Let’s  get a new band in there. Something a little younger, more fun.

Marry: Tower of Terror

This one has it all! An amazing, detailed exterior queue. An amazing, detailed interior queue. An amazing pre-show. And even more amazing post-show queue. The ride itself? Never the same twice. You literally never know what’s going to happen. And then, when you exit, you are still in the show. The same show. There’s no weird transition. The gift shop being where it is even makes sense. It’s perfect from start to finish. The only thing I don’t like? Long lines.
