Girl’s Day Out with This Happy Place Blog

A couple of weekends ago, I was lucky enough to enjoy Pizza Friday with James and Estelle from This Happy Place Blog. And while we were together, the conversation of course turned to Disney. And eventually, it turned to what we’d do if we were ever lucky enough to visit WDW together. Here’s what I came up with:

Good Morning, Magic Kingdom

Estelle and I will meet up in front of the Magic Kingdom at 8:30 a.m. (assuming a Wednesday in mid-February 9 a.m. opening) and grab a seat on the planters right in the center of the entry plaza. We’re camping out. Because as soon as 9 a.m. rolls around, we’re going to stand up on those fabulous planters and sing and dance along with the Magic Kingdom opening show. Good morning! Good morning!

Magic Kingdom morning show.

After we throw our Mickey confetti in the air, as the rest of the crowd files into the Kingdom, Estelle and I are going to head out to the bus stop and hop on a bus to …

Breakfast Bell at Boardwalk

The Boardwalk Resort! Where, duh, we have 9:30 a.m. breakfast reservations at Kouzzina. Because Estelle and I have been talking about having breakfast here for literally months. In fact, we had a reservation to enjoy the scrumptious classic waffles together in early January … and then we both had to reschedule our trips. Sad times.

Stacked Kouzzina Breakfast

But Kouzzina is no place to focus on sad times! We are going to have an absolutely fabulous and filling breakfast together before taking a slow constitutional to …

Running Around the Studios

Why, Hollywood Studios, of course! Estelle loves the Studios. I want to love them, but I struggle with those emotions. I’d really love to wander through the Park with Estelle so she can show me all of her favorite details in person. I’ll share mine, too.

Animation Courtyard1

Also: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. And I think it would be totally fun to run around the Animation Courtyard like a couple of crazies.

Mid-Day Break

When we’re ready for a break, Estelle and I will jump into a FriendShip and motor down Disney’s waterways for a while. It’s such a nice, relaxing way to sit a spell after a few hours on your feet. Where we’ll get off? I’m not sure! We’ll make it a game day decision. Should we grab drinks and lay by the creepy clown pool at the Boardwalk? Or split a burger at Beaches and Cream? Or just sit and chat in the Swan’s lobby? The world may never know!

Swan and Dolphin

Once we’re rested up and ready to face the crowds again, we are going to Epcot! Things I am most looking forward to: shopping silly in MouseGears, riding Spaceship Earth together, running through ImageWorks in the Imagination Pavilion and enjoying cocktails in the World Showcase while we wait for IllumiNations.

Cap Off The Night

I am not going to lie: Estelle and I are both little old ladies. We get sleepy. So we probably are going to want to go to bed after IllumiNations. BUT on the off chance we’re not, we should head straight to Jellyroll’s, where we’ll eat stale popcorn and sing along too loudly with the dueling pianos until we fall asleep in our beers or lose our voices. Whichever comes first.

What do you think of our plan? I know: we didn’t even step foot in Magic Kingdom or go anywhere near Animal Kingdom … but I think it’s a good plan anyway. I can’t wait to see what Estelle came up with for us. You can read her Girl’s Day Out post on This Happy Place Blog today.
