It is International Hollywood Studios Awareness Week, and I can’t think of any better way to celebrate than with a list of the top three best places in the Studios to be photographed looking like a dork.
3. Echo Lake Apartments
You could easily walk right by this super piece of Disney history without stopping or even noticing it. I’m sure I did. But after reading about this Imagineer-planted gem on one of my favorite nerd-tastic Disney blogs, 2719 Hyperion, I made a beeline for the fabled mailboxes, and BAM! I was photo bombed. (Payback for all of the hat photos I make Rob pose for.)
2. Acme Ton of Bricks
Located near Studio Catering Company and the Monsters Inc. meet and greet, this awesome sight gag is hilarious … unless you’re the one being maneuvered into position by your husband and a prankster friend with a camera. Thankfully, I realized what was happening before they could cut the rope …
1. Honey, I Shrunk the Playground
This is hands down my favorite playground in all of Disney World (and anywhere else, for that matter). You can complain that it needs an update and has little context for kids, but you can’t argue that it’s boring. Where else can you ride an ant or stick your arm up a dog’s nose? But there really needs to be a no-photography rule in play here:
What’s your favorite place to take a funny photo in the Studios? Toilet paper tree? Making goofy faces on Tower of Terror? Let us know in the comments below!

Wow – I love it when I find some new Disney details! I have never even noticed the Echo lake apartments – and I know I am going to seek them out when we go again in October.
As for funny pictures – my children are quite fond of us all doing a set “pose” for our ride pictures – sometimes they are quite funny!
They’re super cool. Sometimes, if it’s quite in the Park, you can hear a music/sound loop when you’re standing at the gate, too!!
I always wish we could do a “bored” picture on ToT, but we can’t fake being bored–we’re too busy screaming!
I have a great ‘picture of me taking a picture’ on TOT! Ha!
Pics, please! Post it to the FB page. : )
Anyplace in the streets of NY is fair game for my family. The umbrella that rains is always a favorite!
Stay tuned: we’re going to be posting about the umbrella later in the week!!
Have you posed at the Toilet Paper Tree on Streets of America?
Yeah–sorry about that! I didn’t realize I stole your detail idea. But I just so loved that umbrella you showed me I had to share it with the world.
We really ARE Disney dorks, aren’t we?
You did not steal my idea! I actually think you wrote your post before I did. :p
But, yes. The answer is yes.
