This is going to seem super counter-intuitive, but stick with me here: character dining at Disney World is a smart way to save.
Think about it: on vacation, time is money. Every second you wait in line to meet with Princess Merida is another second you’re not riding Dumbo or watching your son dance along with the Main Street Philharmonic. Those are valuable seconds!
A character meal saves many of those seconds by bringing the characters right to you as you participate in another time-sucking vacation necessity: eating. Yea, you’ll pay more for this than for a traditional dining experience, but you’re saving tons of time and killing two birds with one super fun, super fuzzy stone!

I am so glad you said this. We very rarely wait in line to get an autograph and pictures because the lines are crazy and momma is impatient! We book many character meals so that we can cover a lot of characters. We have the girls so so breakfast dining at Askerhaus Princess Breakfast is wonderful and is a pretty tasty breakfast buffett. Also 1900 Park Fare is a supercalifragilistic treat! Mary Poppins, The Mad Hatter, Alice and Wonderland, etc. Something a little different than Mickey & Minnie. Tusker house character dining is yummy and a great way to start off your day in the Animal Kingdom. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE skip Hollywood & Vine!!! That is terrible food and are the same characters that are the outside Playhouse Disney area, which whenever we go tend to move pretty quickly. Thanks Melissa for posting this so that I didn’t feel like I was cheating my kids, I always felt a little guilty but like you said we kill 2 birds with one stone & get more time to do other things. We do like to stop for “hidden” characters though!
You’re totally NOT a bad mom!! You’re an awesome mom who knows the value of a dollar (and a good time), and you’re passing that on to your kids.
