Earlier this week, I posted about my worst Orlando hotel experience, which got me thinking: I’ve never written about one of my best Orlando hotel experiences.
Before I owned DVC, I typically stayed at value resorts, but one glorious trip, I splurged on a deluxe room at the Contemporary Resort.
Probably in an attempt to be cheap, I booked a Garden Wing room rather than a bed in the main tower, but it actually turned out to be kind of nice. The room was all the way in the back of the “T,” looking out toward Discovery Island. As a result, it was quite a long hike to the room, but I have no complaints.
It was a beautiful, relaxing walk, even in the colder evening temperatures. Each night, I walked by the pool, along the beach, past the hammocks. And almost every night, I saw the Electrical Water Pageant at least once as it made its way around the Lagoon and Lake.
The room itself was out of this world. HUGE and COMFORTABLE. Nothing like any other hotel I’d stayed at before. I actually think it was bigger than my first studio apartment. The decor was calm and quiet, a considerable contrast to the hustle and bustle in the tower.
Since I bought DVC, I haven’t been back to the South Garden Wing. I know its not on many must-do lists or even on most folks’ radar, but it holds a special place in my heart, and I’d definitely love to stay there again some day.
