Aboard the Dream: A Pirate’s Night For Smee

One of my favorite parts of our Disney Cruise was Pirate Night. On our cruise, in particular, it was a crazy, totally unpredictable and unexpectedly fun night … and we’ll tell that story sometime soon. But this week, I want to focus on my pirate-y garb … because I wore my Pirate Night costume (with a couple of small modifications) this past Saturday night for Halloween!

The components:

Peter Pan Compass Necklace (The Lakeside Studio, Etsy)  |  Steampunk Pirate Skirt (Talismana Designs, Etsy)  |  Embroidered Gauzy Top (Sakkas, Amazon) | Corset Waist Belt (TopTie, Amazon)

For Halloween, I added a cute Captain Hook-esque tiny hat-on-a-headband and matching garter. And some stockings because it was a little chilly this past weekend.

And now, me. All dressed up.

Of note: I washed and dryer’d the gauzy top between events, and it definitely shrunk. Probably 2 or 3 sizes. It still worked. But I do think I liked it better with the larger top, so I may pick up another one between now and next year.

I do think I am going to keep working on it. I’d like to add a tiny pocket of some sort onto the garter for this really cute sea-themed plastic dagger I bought. And maybe I’ll get some booties … And a hook! Or a parrot. A parrot could be super cute.

What do you think I should add to my costume? And I want to see YOUR Pirate Night costumes! Post them on our Facebook page
