Saturday Something: 25 Days and Counting …

ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas (Mouse on the Mind)Happy December, Disney fans!! I may not be making my annual December visit to the Mouse House this year, but that doesn’t mean I am not going to do everything in my power to bring a little Disney into my Christmas countdown!

Every year, one of my favorite things to do is to camp out in the living room with a cup of hot chocolate, wrapping Christmas gifts for my family and friends while I watch classic holiday movies. As the holiday lights chase each other around my Christmas tree, my television is securely fixed on ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas.

Like so many years before, the nightly celebration of holiday cheer includes many of our Disney and Pixar favorites playing alongside the classic, claymation Christmas programs we grew up with. This year, we got an extra special treat: ABC Family started the countdown a week early. I’ve already seen WALL-E, Up and Aladdin this week!

Here’s what I’m most looking forward to as the season soldiers on:

Thursday, Dec. 6, 8 p.m.
Disney’s a Christmas Carol

Sunday, Dec. 9, 8 p.m.
The Mistle-Tones

Monday, Dec. 10, 7:30 p.m.
Mickey’s Christmas Carol

Friday, Dec. 14, 9 p.m.
Toy Story

Saturday, Dec. 15, 8 p.m.
Toy Story 2

Sunday, Dec. 16, 7 p.m.
Toy Story 3

I’m a bit bummed that there aren’t more 1990s-era classics scheduled throughout the month. No Beauty and the Beast? No Little Mermaid? Not even their crappy sequels? I understand, with the continued 3D theatre releases and the perpetually locked-down Disney video vault, playing these classics on television takes money out of Disney’s pocket … but it is Christmas, after all!
