Food & Wine 2012: It’s Here!!

The 2012 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is finally here, and I’m lucky enough to be in Disney World right now as you’re reading this!! Be jealous. Seriously: yesterday I met Paul Hazzard, and this evening I am going to an exclusive Spice Route Winery tasting.

But we’re here to talk about the Marketplace food booths, circled around the World Showcase lagoon in a delicious, delicious donut, just waiting to be eaten. Because this is Festival opening weekend (not to mention Epcot’s 30th birthday weekend), the Park is packed, packed, packed. So I’ve had to be a little bit choosy when it comes to waiting in lines for new and favorite food items.

Here’s what made my must-do list:

Terra Booth
I’m not vegan, but I do love vegan food. I make a mean butternut squash soup, thickened with cashew milk, so I’n intrigued by the Chili Colorado with cashew cheese.

Australia Booth
Last year, the lamb chop was a big hit for me. This year, they have changed the accompaniments a bit, so I’m pretty excited to try it. And, if I have room, I’ll be tasting the lamington, too. (Rob and I have tried to make lamington at home several times … it’s never been successful.)

South Africa Booth
Little known fact about me: paneer is one of my favorite things ever. So, of course, the spinach and paneer cheese pocket is on my to-do list.

Cheese Booth
As a member of the Cult of Cheese, I’ll be trying the artisan trio. This girl doesn’t go to Disney World without enjoying some kind of cheese plate.

Hops and Barley Booth (Mouse on the Mind)

Hops and Barley Booth
I will not leave Orlando without eating the Pumpkin Mousse at least once. But probably more like, “every time I walk past the Hops and Barley booth,” which hopefully won’t be too often.

Florida Booth
I am pretty excited for this new booth. I love Florida Orange Groves Winery and their Key Limen Wine. With it, I think I’ll enjoy a white corn arepa with fatty pork and sweet corn salad. Sounds like heaven on a plate.

Dessert and Champagne
To round out my six days here in Disney World, tomorrow I’m absolutely going to raise a glass of champagne and taste test the three new desserts in this year’s trio. Cheers!!
